Exports were valued at £4229 15/, a decrease on the figure of £4353 10/ for the previous year. Forty-eight vessels, of a tonnage of 6247, entered the port during the month, the figures for 1931 being 40 vessels, with a tonnage of 0057. The engineer's report showed that satisfactory work was being done with the demolition of the Onerahi wharf and its reconstruction at Kioreroa.

The sub-provincial secretary of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, on behalf of the Whangarei branch, wrote urging the board to make the proposed land rate, if there was no alternative, as low as possible, in view of the circumstances of the people involved.

"They are asking us to do what we want to—keep the rate as low as- possible," said Mr. J. E. Holmes, in moving that tiler letter be received.

In reply to a question from Mr. H. E. Hewlett, as to when the work of stopbanking the proposed aerodrome would be started, Mr. Finlayson said the work was next on the schedule.
