A MONSTER CAKE.
A monster cake, weighing approximately 4801b, has been baked for the Eketahuna jubilee celebrations. Included in the ingredients ate 001b of butter, 000 eggs, 571b of flour, one bottle of whisky, two bottles of port wine, 051b of mixed fruit, besides 101b of special fruit, oranges, cherrieSj etc., and 41b of mixed nuts. Two bakings were necessary for the cake, whicli was made by Mr. J. A. Taylor; and five days in all were spent in mixing Arid baking, and a further tvvo days for icing. One hundredweight of icirig sugar was required to ice the cake, arid 251b of white oi egg was used,. Considerable difficulty attended the icing of such a large surface on account of the icing drying so quickly ill the heat, but an excellent job has been xuade.
