The golden jubilee of Sister Mary Aloysius, of the Sisters of St. Joseph, was -fittingly marked last week at the Stored Heart Convent, St. John's Hill, Waflganui. Siitfer Aloysius was the first New Zealand Postulant to enter the Order on the arrival of the sisters in WaHganul over 50 years ago. Sister Aldysiiis Wafl at one time associated with-the Rev. _ The Royal National Lifeboat Institution lias awarded its thanks on vellum to the women of Dungeness for the gallant part they took in helping to launch thft Dungeness lifeboat on October S. The' lifeboat, one of the largest and! heaviest in the institution's fleet, was taken out to go to the lielp of the barge Shafrirock, of London, and the launchers, among whom were many women, pushed her doton the skids to the sea. So strong was the wind that a sudden gust blew the. boat right off the skids on to tlie beach. ■ Although wet to the skin and hardly able to keep their feet on the loose etdiies, the launchefs got the lifeboat away at the second attempt.
