Mr. G. R. Hutchinson, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, returned today. Mr. W. J. Poison, M.P. for Stratford, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express this morning. Mr. H. Turner returned to Auckland by the express this morning from a business visit to Wellington. Mr. W. Goodfellow came as far as Frankton by the Limited express this morning. He has been to Wellington on a business visit. Mr. H. C. McCoy, manager of New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., returned to Auckland this morning after a short busiijess trip to Wellington. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, left for Wellington by train last evening. He will attend to conciliation matters there, and will return to Auckland, on Saturday morning. Mr. E. T. L. Spidey, superintendent of railway workshops, arrived in Auckland this morning by the early express. He was accompanied by Mrs. Spidey, aiid they are at the Station Hotel. Inspector T. Gibson, with Mrs. Gibson and family, left by the express yesterday afternoon for Invercargill. Inspector Gibson has been appointed inspector in charge of the Southland police district. Mr. H. O. Mellsop and Mr. R. Feisst, members of the Auckland provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, returned to the city this morning after attending the Wellington conference. Mr. A. J. Sinclair, manager of the Te Awamutu Dairy Co., arrived by the Limited express this morning. He addressed the Auckland Chamber of Commerce this afternoon on problems concerning butter. Dr. W. F. Short, who resigned in December last from, the position of lecturer in organic chemistry at the Auckland University College, left Auckland for Wellington last night with his family to join the Rangitata for England. Mr. T-. 0. Bishop, secretary of the New Zealand Coal Mine Owners' Association, arrived in Auckland by motor car yesterday afternoon to attend a meeting of the Northern Miners' Union and mine owners to-day. He is at the Station Hotel, and expects to leave on Saturday.
