OWNERS FIGHT FLAMES.
■ — ■ — FIRE AT MOUNT ROSKILL. As a result of an outbreak of lire in the rear of a fi v c-roonied wooden hou.-c at 137, Mount Albert Road, Mount Knr-.-kill, on Saturday, extensive was done to a sun porch, a kitchenette and an attached washhouse. The Mount Roskill brigado was called and made a good save. The fire was caused by a spark from the copper in the washhouse. An attempt to-suppress the flames before the brigado arrived was made by Mr. and ' Mrs. R; E. Skinner, owners and occupiers of the house, who were slightly burned.
CHURCH DESTROYED. MYSTERIOUS OUTBREAK. (Dy Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUXEDIX, this day. ' The Sawyers Bay Prosbyteriui Church was destroyed by fire yesterday morning. The origin of the outbreak is a mystery, hut, as u rick of hay n'<sor the rear of the church was burned aisr,, it is thought that the blaze may have spread from this. The church was insured for £700 in the Xew Zealand office.
