CLOSING TIME VICTORIOUS. SYDNEY, January 2. The an:.ual race meeting of Tattersail's Club was held at Randwick on Saturday and to-day. The chief events on Saturday resulted: — CARRINGTON STAKES of 650sovs. Six furlongs. CLOSING TIME (Mr. J. T. Jamieson), 8.3—J3. Bartle 1 LUCRE, 7.5 —Simpson ± TOM PINCH, O.S —Coutts 3 Eleven started. Closing Time led all the way. Tom Pinch was next until the straight was reached, when Lucre displaced him. Won by two lengths, a length between second and third. Time, 1.12. DENMAN HANDICAP of 30Osovsi One mile and a quarter. GOLD DIGGER, 7.6—Simpson 1 PBNTHEUS, S.4 —Davidson 2 TOPICAL, 7.9—Weiss 3 Nine started, including Lavington (New Zealand), 7.4. It was a close finish. Won by half a length, a length and a half between second and third. Lavington was fourth: Time, 2,42. Result of the chief event to-day was:— TATTERSALL'S CLUB CUP of 750sovs. One mile and a half. MISS NOTTAVA, 7.7—Weiss 1 PBNTHEUS, S.4—Davidson , 2 INDUCEMENT, B.2—James 3 Seventeen started, including Lavington. Won in the last stride by a long head, a short neck between second and third. Time, 2.31.
