MAIRANGI BAY.
NEW TENNIS COURTS OPENED. Ideal weather prevailed on Saturday, when a large gathering assembled at the Mairangi Bay Progressive Association's recreation grounds for the formal opening of the tennis courts. Mr. H. A. Craig, president of the association, welcomed members and visitors, especially Mr. Bishop (chairman), Mr. J. C. liennie (riding member), Mr. Faram (engineer) and Mr. Cawkwell (clerk) of the Waitemata County Council, and Messrs. Bell and Moore, who represented the Brown's Bay Progressive Association. Mr. Rennie addressed the gathering and thanked Mr. Bishop and the Waitemata County Council for help and co-operation. Mr. Bishop,' on opening the courts and grounds, spoke of the excellent work'done by the association and stressed the point that the formation of the grounds, etc., had provided work for a large number of the unemployed, and schemes to be carried out in the near future would create further openings.
