RECLAIMED LAND.
SETTLEMENT AT WHAXGAREI. (By Telegraph:-,-Own Correspondent.). WHANGAREI, this day. After the opening of the first house iu connection with the reclamation settlement scheme at Pohe Island yesterday afternoon, the "Wnangaxei Har-. bbur Board resumed to confer with the district engineer, Mr. Eonayne, and the land purchase officer for the Public Works Department, Mr. Brosman, concerning the disposition of the board's endowment land. Mr. A, J. Mxirdooh, M.P., attended the conference, which was held in committee. The Government advanced certain proposals, in connection with the development of the scheme, which will be considered at a special meeting of the Harbour Board on January 18. On that date a deputation from the Harbour Board will meet the Government Railways Board, which will be visiting Dargaville, when matters concerning the Kioreroa railway wharf will be discussed. ,
