CHURCH MEETINGS.

NORTHCOTE PRESBYTERIANS. The annual congregational meeting of the Northcote Presbyterian Church, held last evening, was well attended. The Rev. F. A. Thompson, who presided, mentioned that he and the other clergymen in the district were conducting the Nelson system. of Bible reading at the Northcote primary school, where the system was proving quite satisfactory. The session report was (presented by Mr. H. H. Broady; the manager's report by Mr. Hector MacKinnon; the financial statement by the treasurer, Mr. J. Fawcett; the Sunday school report by Mr. Raymond Broady, and the report of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union by Miss L. A. Tremain. Reports were also submitted from the Girls' Auxiliary, the choir and the Bible class. An increase in membership was recorded. The new brick church had cost £1572, and was paid for out of this year's account, with the exception of £22. The sole liability on the church was £450 on loan. The selection of a name for the Northcote church is to foe submitted to a vote of the congregation. The office bearers for the ensuing year are:—Elders, Mesens. Joseph Hay, James Lockie, H. H. Broady and W. Hay; session clerk, Mr. H. H. Broady; committee of management, Messrs. J. Fawcett (treasurer), H. MacKinnon (secretary), D. Munro, J. Clark and Gordon Davidson.

MOUNT EDEN PRESBYTERIAN,

A large number of members and adherents were present at the annual meeting of the Mount Eden Presbyterian ' Church. Rev. W. Bower Black, LL.B., interim moderator of the charge, presided. The session report was supported by Mr. J. B. Ramsay, who referred to the prosperous state of all the organisations and thanked all members for their loyal support. Mr. J. T. R. Oliver spoke to the manager's report and mentioned the strenuous times through whicli the country was passing. Although the r.evenue was slightly less than last year the expenses also showed a reduction. Mr. W. Drummond, treasurer, also reported on the finances of the church. The revenue from all sources amounted to £1172, of which £229 was contributed for missions and social service work. A special vote of thanks was accorded Mr. E. M. Edgar for his services as honorary organist for several years. The retiring managers, Messrs. J. T. R. Oliver, A. M. Rosie and L. Moir, were reelected and Mr. R. Lowry was appointed to a vacancy on the board.
