LOCAL BODIES.
ONE TREE HILL COUNCIL. The One Tree Hill Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, presiding. New Taxi Stand.—lt was decided to grant an application for the establishment of a taxi stand at the corner of Green Lane and Great South Road. Opossum Menace. —The council decided to support the Auckland Institute and Museum in urging the Department of Internal Affairs to prevent the further spread of opossums. The Mayor mentioned that the council had had reports that the animals were doing damage within the borough. Penalty on Rates.—lt was decided that rates tinpaid after six months and 14 days from date of demand be subject to a 10 per cent penalty.
