POINTS FROM LETTERS.

SUFFERING AND PRAYER. M.H.H.B.P. writes: "Have we ever noticed that persons so afflicted are generally intelligent, bright and cheerful? Does it not sound feasible that these attributes are to counteract the •bodily defects?" Has he ever wondered •that this cheerfulness and indifference is merely a mask to hide a never ending regret that they are so afflicted. M.H.H.B.P. says a child cured of a complaint by the faith of the parents would be a living testimony of the power of God. Would not a child perfect in health as we know it, be a better testimony instead of one mended by faith, as it were? We are taught God said: "Whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, believing, that shall I give unto you." Why with His power should it be nectary for anyouf to have to ask for another limb or set of linu>s to replace those they have through no fault of their own. He also says we must have a child-like faith in God, and then, later on, likens our Maker to an engineer. If M.H.H.B.P. bought a car, and, driving it from the garage the engine fell apart, would lie have any faith in the engineer who made that particular engine ? Is a child, born with a defective limb or limbs, when old enough to think for itself, expected to have faith in his Maker, especially when he learns that so far as can be ascertained his misfortune is a payment for the sin of someone he does not know or will never see? I fail to see any justice in that die repenting should be done hy an innocent pai ty. G.B.
