AKA AKA DRAINAGE.
PAYMENT FOR RELIEF WORKS (By Telegraph.—■ Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Arrangements made between the Aka Aka Drainage Board and the Unemployment Board for the execution of certain drainage works are confirmed in the Finance Bill introduced in the House last night. It authorises the Drainage Board to pay the unemployment fund £1000 as its contribution towards the cost, at the rate of £100 a year, the first instalment to be paid on the completion of the undertaking. If the Drainage Board makes default in the full and punctual payment of any amount due this, together with an additional charge of 5 per cent per annum, will be recoverable as a debt due to the Crown, and in addition the Finance Minister, for the purpose of recovering the amount, may appoint a receiver to levy an annually recurring rate in the district.
