AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
AUCKLAND CLUB MEETING. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club conducted its second of a series of evening meetings at the Domain last evening under ideal conditions. Good fields contested the events and several very keen finishes were witnessed by a large gathering of spectators. Results :— 100 Yards Open Handicap.—First heat: R. Oliver (B£yds) 1, L. V. Clapham (Byds) 2, A. J. Elliot (scr) 3. Second heat: A. J. Ryall (sJyds) 1, G. F. Mitchell (7yds) 2, L. R. Currey (Byds) and W. J. Murray (4yds), dead-lieat, 3. Final: L. It. Currey 1, It. Oliver 2, A. J. Ryall 3. A great finish, the placed men being almost in line. < 75 Yards. Ladies' Handicap.—Miss J. Armour (6yds) 1, Miss McConnell (7yds) 2, Miss A. J. Scouller (7Jyds) 3. A good finish. One-Mile Walk.—G. W. Rogers (10s) 1, Holmes (28s) 2, Dawson (355) 3. R. Cameron, New Zealand half-mile walk champion, finished a very close second, but was disqualified for lifting. One-Mile Run. —Pinson (110 yds) 1, Scott (170 yds) 2, H. McNiel (180 yds) 3. Time, 4.24. Another good race between the three placed men, several yards only separating them at the finish. J. W. Savidan competed, but treated the race merqly as a training run and consequently was weil back at the finish.
