EMPLOYMENT OF BOYS.
COMMITTEE'S FARM SCHEME. The Auckland Boys' Employment Committee decided yesterday afternoon to spend £150 on the development of St. John's selection farm. Mr. E. E. Kitchener said that as a result of tjie expenditure boys would be given more of the practical experience that was necessary for farming. It was reported that during November 27 boys had passed through St. John's farm, and 15 of that number had gone to work in the country. Of 32 applicants for work in the country 20 had been placed. City registrations had totalled 53 and positions had been found for 28 boys. Mr. Kitchener gave the opinion that because a boy happened to be over 17 years of age there was no reason why the committee should not try to place him in employment. The president, Mr. G. Gribble, said that employers, particularly those in the city, preferred to get boys before they were 18. It was decided to defer the making of plans for older boys until the next meeting. ,
