FLUCTUATTONS IN SHARES. MORE BUSINESS DOING. GOVERNMENT ISSUES PREFERRED. Since last report there has been a slight improvement in turnover on the Auckland Stock Exchange, with a better market for some lines. Government stocks are again receiving more attention, and at this morning's call buyers for s%'s stocks advanced their offers to £97 15/, whilst there were buyers at £92 10/ for 4%'s. In the banking section New Zealands were firmer, with buyers at £2 2/6, and ! holders asking £2 3/9. A buyer came in for New South Wales at £26. Waihis continued the latest firming tendency, with a buyer offering 19/4, and a holder prepared to take Id more. Alexander Mines were asked for, with a buyer at £1 2/. Gas shares were steady, and sellers for contributing raised their limits to 15/6. j The Noon Call. There was a better tone, as far as Government issues were concerned, at the noon call. Both the September and the February issues of loan and stock, 1937, 5% per cents, firmed up to £93 for buyers, whiie sellers remained silent. There was a sale of 1936 5Ms per cent stock at £98 5/, an advance of 15/ on the last sale on the Ist. The one before that, though,, was 5/ above par. In the mining section, Okaritos now have buyers at 7/11. an advance of Id on this morning, while sellers have come forward at 8/3. Blackwater holders have reduced their demands 3d, to £1 2/9.
