WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
AWHITU. At the November meeting a number of beautifully worked Christmas novelties was displayed. A competition was held and won by Mre. S. Dickey. The hosteeses were Mrs. Hall and Mrs. G. Irwin.
SWANSON. The institute held a Paddy's market on Saturday, which was opened by Mr. Wallace, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board. A social evening followed. Items were given by Mr. B. Hall, Mise Rita Naylor, Mr. Rex Sayers, and Miss Mercia Sayers, Miee June Burton and Miss Joan Nankiville. Miss Ivy Akerstein was accompanist. Prizes were awarded to Miss Freeman, Miss M. Insley, Messrs. B. Constable, Calverd, Rex Sayers. The winners of the nail-driving were Miss D. Winter, Miss Insley, Mr. Constable and Mr. A. Taylor. Dancing followed,;and the evening finished with the National .Anthem; *',
