MISSING MAILBAGS.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
LONDON, December 4. Detectives boarded the liner Remuera at Tilbury to-day. It is stated that they gathered important information respecting the missing mail bags.
When the Remuera arrived at Wellington from London on October 2 it was discovered that three bags of registered mail matter were missing. The bags contained 46 packets for Wellington, 14 for Auckland, nine collective packete for Wellington and 19 for Auckland. The only occasion on which, the Remuera's mailroom wae officially opened between London and Wellington was at Curacao, where mail bags were landed. After the Curacao mails was taken from the mailroom the door was sealed in the usual way. The postal authorities in Wellington communicated with the London authorities regarding the missing mail bags. The value of the contents of the missing registered packages.has not been assessed. A good deal of the mail probably comprised drafts and other documents which reached New Zealand in duplicate form by another mail.
