GHASTLY SIGHT.
Crowded Chinese Troopship Machine-Gunned.
200 DEAD ON DECKS. (Received 10.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, December 4. A small Chinese steamer carrying troops, adherents of General Liu-hsiang, was approaching Chungking when soldiers belonging to a rival general opened machine-gun fire on it from the river bank. This riddled the vessel, sweeping the crowded decks, and when the ship reached Hankow there was a ghastly sight, the alleyways running with blood. Over 200 dead were spread over the decks.
