FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES.
WEEK OPENS QUIETLY,
A fresh week opened tamely with the Auckland Stock Exchange, and at this morning's call the only sale recorded was one of Wailii Grand Junction held over from .Saturday. Buyers came in again for Insurances, but at reduced limits. For New Zealands £2 was the best offer, £2 12/6 for South British and £'2 4/ for Queenslands. In Government stocks a holder reduced his reserve to £93 10/ for 4Vz's, bringing in a buyer at £02 10/. Five and a half's were unchanged. In the mining section Blackwaters were in demand at £ 1 2/ and Waihis at 18/7. Taupiri Coals were easier, with sellers at 11/9. Bank of New Zealand shares were steady, and had buyers at £2 2/ and sellers at £23/. The Noon Call.
The tone at the noon call was still quiet, though there were two sales in the room. The Bank of New Zealand has buyers at £2 2/3, the price of the sale to-day, with sellers £2 2/6. Buyers for Waihis hardened slightly, from 18/7 to 18/8. Holders remain at 18/9. In the debenture issue, bidders for Auckland City, 1940. 5% per cents rose 30/, from £97 to £98 10/.
