SECOND MATCH SERIES. i | WINS ON FIRST INNINGS. Following their fruitful batting yields on Saturday week in the second series of matches in the Auckland City and Suburban competition, Ponsonby, R.V. and Harbour Board, favoured by a bowler's wickct on Saturday, each obtained a fourpoint win. Roy Watkins, of Invicta, was the only batsman to make a good stand, and he was unbeaten for 104 runs, gained in steady play against Ponsonby. Of the othyrs, ICerr (Green Lang) and Howell (Mount Albert Old Boys) knocked up 35 and 32 runs respectively. When Invicta followed on after making 153 runs in reply to 276 by Ponsonby, the latter made a spirited effort to capture six points, taking seven wickets for 59 runs. Bennett, Eastoe and Robertsliaw ; were Ponsonby's most effective bowlers. Green Lane scored only 126 runs, and ; were five wickets down for 99 runs in their second strike. For R.V., who were 417 for seven wickets in their first innings, Burton and Finlayson bowled well. Mount Albert Old Boys made 130 runs in reply to Harbour Board's 350 for seven wickets, but got into their stride well in their second strike, which yielded 102 runs for the loss of three wickets. The third series of senior crioket championship matches was concluded on Saturday, and resulted in first innings victories for Wellington College Old Boys, Hutt, Kilbirnie and Midland. By defeating Wellington by 243 to 2i17 and 97 for four wickets, Hutt remains the only unbeaten team. The principal Hutt scorer was Ross, 73. Symes, six for 86, and Blundell, four for 55, bowled well for Wellington. Petone scored 204 (Allcott 107 not: out) against Old Boys, for whom Parsloe secured six for 49, and Duncan three for 62. Allcott hit 16 fours, Mallard, a 17-year-old colt who made 27, assisted Allcott to put on 60 for the last Petone wicket. Kilbirnie scored 249 (Morris 76) in reply to University's 1-51.
