CRUELTY TO HORSE.

CHINESE FINED AT ONEHUNGA.

Ah Lowe, a Chinese gardener, was charged in the Police Court at Onehunga thie morning with cruelty to a horse by working it with' sore shoulders at Mangere yesterday. Ah Wee, the owner of the horse, wae also charged with permitting it to be worked. John J. Hollingworth, inspector for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, who prosecuted, said the horse had three sores on one shoulder and two on the other. These, the dwner had admitted to him, were; caused last Friday, and the horse had been worked yesterday. Constable A. E. Hinton confirmed this statement. The presiding justices, Messrs. J. Laking and F. C. Soar, went over to Mangere and inspected the horse, which they found to be in a bad condition. Ah How admitted having worked the horse thie morning, after covering its shoulders with sugar bags before putting on the collar. Ah Wee admitted ■having told him to ,do so. Ah Wee, tha owner, was convicted and fined £3, with 10/ costs. Ah How was convicted and ordered to pay 10/ costs.
