SEASICK MAN ON LAUNCH. DIED ON REACHING PORT. DRAMATIC RUN TO WHANGAREI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A fishing excursion to the Hen and Chicken Islands yesterday ended in a tragedy, after a dramatic race for the life of one of the party, James ■ Foley, aged 62, a married man, collapsed and died just as the launch berthed at the town wharf.

The party left i Whangarei in , the launch Elwyn shortly before 3 a.m. yesterday for a day's hapuka fishing near the Hen. They struck heavy seas outeide, and all but two of them were seasick. Mr. Foley was particularly ill when the launch was half way across the open stretch between the Heads and tie Hen.

He seemed to recover, but after the launch anchored off the island he said he was not feeling too well, and went off to rest. The other members of the party started fishing, but shortly before nine o'clock they realised that Mr. Foley was getting worse and decided to run for. port.

One of the party went to call Dr. Goodwin, but before the latter arrived the sick man had collapsed and died.

■ Mr. Foley came from Auckland, where his- wife and family of five are now living. For the- past few months he had . been working for Whangarei Bakeries, Ltd.
