THROUGH COUNTRY EYES.
BEAUTIFUL THINGS.
(By Alwyn Sanders, Kaikohe, Pay of Islands.) Who has seen a bed of tulips in full bloom ? Who has seen the moon pushing its way through the clouds like some eager person trying to get nearer the front at a football match? Who has seen the frSlds on a sunny spring morning, covered "with dew and dotted with daisies lilfe myriads of tiny stars in the fresh new grass? How many of us have watched a butterfly flitting amongst the flowers, its lovely wings glistening in the sun? But I think, that loveliest of 'all is the flock of birds in the evening sky. One may see their clear outlines in the rose and golden sunset, with black hills forming an appropriate background. Here and there along the horizon one may see tall weatherbeaten trees and smoke curling peacefully up into the sky. Yes, there are many, things that are beautiful all around us if we- only look for them. Even the ugliest person can have the most beautiful -soul. > Therefore judge not from outer appearances, but from the soul within.
