The main business of the meeting was discussion of matters dealing with the bush nurse and housekeeper branch of the work. The following branches were represented at the meeting: Auckland, Mesdames Edward Anderson (president), Crotan and Spragg; Mangere, Mesdames H. Apologies were received from branches unable to be represented. In reporting on the housekeeping scheme, the president emphasised the fact that the council were respongible for the well-being of their nurses and housekeepers. For instance, where homes visited were in lack of the necessary comforts, they must supply the equipment. This section of the work was practically the main activity of the organisation, and it was necessary that it should be placed on a good financial basis. It had been suggested at a previous meeting that branches be permitted to engage casual help. The president urged the delegates not to confuse this with their registered housekeepers. Casuals or probationers received up to £1 per week, all expenses being met by the employer. Acknowledgment was made of the co-operation of the Home Service Association with the council in the matter of housekeepers. In connection with the housekeeping scheme the following remit was passed: "That until areas are clearly defined by headquarters any emergency application, the district of which is in doubt, shall be sent direct to headquarters for advice and instruction."
