COLLEGE OLD BOYS.

REUNION IN AUCKLAND.

VALUE OF SCHOOL SPIRIT

' Auckland old boys of Wellington and Nelson and Christ's Colleges, and the Wanganui Collegiate School held an enjoyable reunion, at the Star Hotel, Auckland.

Among those present -were representatives from King's College, the Auckland Grammar School, and also from Wellington College (England) and Brighton College. i The oldest ex-scholare were Mr. James Toomath, of Wellington College, who was a student , from 1871 to 1876, aud Mr. W. Meek, who was a student at Weilington College from 1872 to 1875. Mr. N. Gibson CChrist's), who presided, said the natural rivalry between colleges was not in itself a bad thing. He had usually found that those who had the most- " school spirit" during their school life and worked hardest for it were the best " mixers ". in after life. It was often the boy who had takep the least part in the school life who .cultivated later the " exelusi'veness " so often referred to.

-. The toast of The. Colleges " was proposed by. Dr. Pettit,. and replied to by Mr. Thorne George (Wanganui), Professor F. P. Worley (Nelson), Mr. L. P. Leary (Wellington), and Mr. N. Gibson (Christ's). The toast of "Kindred Associations " was replied to by Mr. J. Keegan (King's College) and Mr. C. Badeley (Auckland Grammar). Prior, to the reunion, the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the Christ's College Old Boys' .Association was held.
