Mr. W. L. Richards, J.P., of Rotorua, has been appointed a district coroner. Mr. and Mrs. John aßtten were passengers by the Maunganui for Sydney to-day. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Craig, of Symonds Street, leave by the Maunganui to-day on a visit to Australia. Dr. and Mrs. Costello, of Whangarei, left Auckland for London by the Port Gisborne this afternoon. Mr. T. McNab, Mayor ol Mount Eden, is visiting the Bay of Plenty. He will return to Auckland on Monday. Mr. A. Hoxvey Walker, chairman of directors, Pukemiro Collieries, Ltd., returned from Wellington by the Limited thirj morning. Mr W. A. Bishop, chairman, and Mr. C. A. Cawkwell, clerk of the Waitemata County Council, returned from Wellington this morning. Mr. H. Robertson, who has been on the staff of the Post and Telegraph office at Tauranga, has been appointed postmaster at Kawliia. Brigadier-General G. S. Palmer and Mrs. Palmer, of Auckland, who have spent the past four months in Samoa and Fiji, returned by the Maui Pomaie 011 Tuesday. Colonel W. I). Holgate, who has been attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Coal Mine Owners' Federation, returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Mr. A. F. Small, pianager of the Apia branch of the Bank of New Zealand, who has completed his term of service in Samoa, came back to New Zealand this week by the Maui Pomarc. He was accompanied by Mrs. Small. Mr. W. F. Sturman, who has been appointed town clerk of Invercargill, has been with the Pctone Borougn Council for the past 20 years. Sturman was formerly Miss Isancy Curtis, a New Zealand tennis champion.
