GOLDEN WEDDING.
The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Cleveland was celebrated by a gathering of relatives and friends in the Church of Christ building, Dominion Road. There were about 60 guests present, including all the members of the family: Mr. H. W. Cleveland, of Piriaka; Mr. P. F. Cleveland, Mount Wellington; Mr. C. H. Cleveland, Glenmore;. Mrs. G. Jennings, of Wellington; Mrs. W. A. Gaeth, Mount Eden, and Miss E. Cleveland, Remuera, Thirteen of the 15 grandchildren were also present. Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland were married on October 25, 1882, at the Wellesley Street Baptist Church, Auckland, by the late Rev. Thos. Spurgedn. Mr. Cleveland waa born on Octobers 25, 1857, in Shortland Street, near where Bycroft's mill now stands. Commencing as a runner for the "Daily Southern Cross" newspaper, Mr. Cleveland then became mailboy, and afterwards was apprenticed to the compositors' trade, finishing his term with the "New Zealand Herald," when that journal incorporated the "Cross." He afterwards served 27 years with the "Auckland Star" company as compositor and proof reader. Mr. Cleveland has been secretary of tha Auckland Typographical Union for just on 40 years. Mrs. Cleveland was the eldest daughter of the late Robert Blakeley, and was born in London. The couple received the congratulations and good wishes of relatives and friends.
