FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES. BUSINESS IS FAIR. There has been a slight improvement in the tone of the Auckland Stock Exchange since last report, and although completed business has not been extensive, inquiries have covered a wider range. Bank of New Zealand shares have again taken an upward turn, and after a sale this morning at £2 6/ there were still buyers at that figure, while holders had retired to £2 .6/6. An inquiry came in for National Mortgage and Agency shares at £1 15/, and River Plates were again asked for at par. Government stocks were steady at late rates. Auckland Gas 6% per cent debentures were quoted ex interest, with buyers at £37. The Noon Call. Business in the mining section was brisk at the noon call. Two parcels of Waihis changed hands at 18/ and 18/1, in that order, and another sale was reported at the latter figure; two lots of Grand Junctions were sold at 3/6, an advance of Id, while buyers and sellers for King Solomons met at 1/10. For Waihis there are still buyers at 18/, with, sellers 2d ahead. While buyers for Grand Junctions are steady, holders have advanced to 3/7. King Solomons have buyers at 1/9. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The annual conference of the metropolitan and provincial stock exchanges affiliated to the Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand was held at Wellington yesterday. Mr. C. G. Creagh, Chairman of the Auckland Stock Exchange, was elected president for the ensuing year, and Mr. E. Bueholz, chairman of the' Wellington Stock Exchange, vice-president. Most of the business dealt with the facilitation of. transactions between different stock exchanges. The association's representative on the Companies Act Commission reported that the commission had completed its revision of 'tlie present Act and that the matter was no\v:in the hands of the law draughtsman. It.'was hoped the new Act Blight be put through Parliament next session.
