BLACK BROTHERS WIN AGAIN. NEW PROFESSIONAL HOLDERS. (By .Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The New Zealand golf championship meeting was opened at the Heretaunga links to-day. The course was looking its best, the fairways green and grassy, neither fast nor slow, and the putting greens with just sufficient keenness to make them interesting. The weather was excellent. A fairly strong north-west breeze was blowing across the course, and though it was not sufficient to disturb accuracy, it was quite enough to make the careful playing of shots essential. To-day was devoted to the professional and amateur championship foursomes. The professional event was won by J. A. Clements and E. S. Douglas with a total of 145, the same score as that of A. J. Shaw and J. Watt when the latter pair won this event at Shirley last year. The winners of the amateur foursomes were J. L. Black and H. A. Black (the 1931 champions) with a total of 148 for the two rounds. The amateur handicap foursomes decided on the morning round was won by J. D. G. Duncan and M. H. Duncan, 73— 3—70. Peacock and Gregory and H. P. F. Blundell and P. W. Blundell tied for second place with 78—7—71. The first and second rounds of the open championship will be played on Friday.
