MEDICI PRINTS.

ANOTHER SERIES ON VIEW. In accordance with the policy of making special exhibitions of the collection ot Medici prints presented to the Auckland Art Gallery by Mr. Moss Davis, the authorities have now arranged for showing about a score, illustrating the Dutch and Flemish schools. The artists represented are Rembrandt, Franz Hals, V ail Eyck, Vermeer, Terboch, Peter de Hooch, Jan Steen, Ruysdacl and Hobbema. Ihere is something very attractive about the Dutch and Flemish old masters, who delighted in painting human beings ill a very human way, depicting theni enjoying themselves in the rather boisterous way that is associated with the Netherlands in song and story. They were great humanists, as well as great painters, and that is why their works appeal so strongly to the man in the street. There is something specially appealing about the charm of the genre pictures in which these old masters delighted. A number of old favourites are included in latest collection that ie now on view in the Gallery.
