RAILWAY TROUBLE

FEARS or STRIKE SPREADING. (Received 11.30 a.m.) r CALCUTTA, November 3. A strike has been declared by 6000 men at Madras and the Southern Mahratta railway workshops at Perambnr, with signs that it will spread to other centres of the Game railway and possible that other services will become involved. The Raihvaymen's Federation for several months has been threatening a general strike, demanding a cessation of discharges under the retrenchment scheme;. Probably they will make the Madras dispute an issue throughout the country.
