FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES.! BUSINESS IRREGULAR. A fair volume of business was put through on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, but this morning again commenced very quietly, and only a single sale teas recorded at the first call. Bidding lacked animation in most sections except Government stocks and insurances, which were steady and firm. For Bank of New Zealand shares £2 5/ was the best offer, with holders asking £2 5/9. Dominion Pictures, which had their Srst sale for a considerable period yesterday, were again asked for, with buyers at 9/6. A parcel of Hill and Plummer's shares was offered at 15/, and Auckland Gas 6% per cent debentures were available at £101. Holders of South British Insurance shares are keeping off the market, and offer 3 of £2 17/ fail to bring any response. The Noon Call. Chief feature of bidding at the noon call was a sharp rise in 4',-b per cent Government stocks. Buyers advanced tlieir offers for the '38 issue to £97 5/, and for the 'W3 to £95.
