BEFORE COURT GISBORNE YOUTH A EXEPTOMAJiTAC ? ELDER MAN GETS PROBATION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent,) GISBORNE, tin's day. The unusual circumstances of a 'father and son appearing in Court at the same time on similar charges occurred in the Police Court yesterday, -when' James Paul Martin was admitted to probation for two years, and his son, Paul Colin Martin, aged 18 years, was sentenced to three years' Borstal detention. The younger accused faced a'lengthy list of charges and the theft of a miscellaneous collection- of articles purloined • from various parts of the district. He had been before the Court twice previously within the last 18 months. In passing sentence, the magistrate remarked that the boy was apparently a kleptomaniac, and the only chance for him was strict discipline in a reformatory institution. It was explained that the charge of theft against the father from a search of the house during the iiive# tigation of the son's offence, accused having stolen tools and fittings, from his employer.
