MILLIONS INVOLVED.
LEGAL BATTLE OVER PATENTS. (Received 1.30 pjn.) LONDON, November 1. A legal battle involving millions of pounds has begun in the law courts. It is expected to last five weeks. British Celanese, Limited, is suing Courtaulds, Limited, for alleged infringement of patents in making cellulose, acetate silk. Eight JLC's are engaged. Counsel's opening speech will take three days. The documents, in the case required a year to prepare.
Courtaulds deny that they infringed the plaintiff's patents, whose validity they attack, asking that the patents be revoked as they are not novel owing to other patents dating from 1887. The capital of the two companies totals £42,450,000.
