AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.

INVESTMENT STOCKS AND SHARES. COMPARISONS OF RECENT TRANSACTIONS. TO TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1. The following table furnishes a guide to investors. It shows the trend of the market over twelve months for a comprehensive list of securities, at the same time indicating the latest movements namely, from a week ago to the date of compilation. The rate of interest obtainable to present-day purchasers is also presented, the calculation being based on the latest dividends. An outstanding feature of this week's results is an easing in values that has been fairly general, though Government stocks and insurance shares have been practically exempt from the recession. A table compiled by the "Christchurch Times" shows that between October 20 and 27 a list of representative securities dropped from a basic percentage of 85.1 to 82.9. A slight weakness seems to have developed in bank shares and values of most are lower than they were a few -weeks back. An exception to the general trend is provided by Waihi shares, which have continued to firm in sympathy with the appreciation of gold. The scrip is selling to-day at 18/, which is equivalent to a rise of 1/6 in the week, as a shilling dividend has just been paid.

Return on Debenture and Government Stock Is based on price received at maturity and after payment of JO per cent Stamp Tax. tSublect to English Income Tax. JKree of Income Tax. 'Subject to N.Z. Income Tax. based on Interim Dividend. 'Interim Dividend Passed.
