DARGAVILLE NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ' DARGAVTLLE, Tuesday., The Rev. E. P. Blamires, who for the past ten days has been busy in the Northern Wairoa district organising i the Bible class movement, had jhis final meeting last evening. In outlining the endeavour which had been made to stop the drift of young people from the churches, Mr. Blamires said that the Methodist Church had given a lead in the organisation of Bible class camps, a lead which was being followed 'byother organisations. Last Easter they had in camp over 2000 Bible class scholars, boys and girls. The movement was. gaining. ground, in North Auckland, and on Labour Day there were 381 in camp in the Northern Wairoa, Victoria Valley and Waimate -North districts. Feed in Plenty. This district is at present showing a phenomenal growth of feed. In a measure this is largely due to climatic conditions, •but there are other, factors—better farming methods, increased topdressing,. ■ the clearing of logs and rushes, better and increased drainage. The soil is becoming sweetened and conducive to better growth, and in consequence the pastures as a whole appear to be better each. yeat. Some of the increased feeding- value of the pastures is due to the dntoduction of paspalum, which is now recognised as a valuable hot weather grass, and, contrary to expectations, does not "take charge" so far as to exclude other grasses. Judicious topdressing helps the other grasses and clovers to hold their own and maintain an even balance. Already a good many farmers are taking advantage of the surplus growth in getting their ensilage stacks under way. Illustrative of. the number of farmers who have increased their turnover duxing the current season the local Press has never had so many advertisements for men, youths and girls to fill posts in milking sheds and in farmers' homes. The demand is very much in excess of the supply. Archbishop Averill conducted a confirmation service at (Holy Trinity Church this evening.
