The Right Hon. J. G. Coatcs returned to Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., of Whangarei, is \ kiting Auckland, and is at the Station Hotel. Mr. B. L. Dallard, Controller-General of Prisons, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Ho is at the Grand Hotel. Mr. Justice Reed and Mrs. Reed arrived from' Wellington by the early express this morning. They are at Hotel Cargen. Sir Donald McGavin and Lady McGavin, of Wellington, arrived in-. Auckland yesterday. They are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. W. F. O'Donnell; secretary of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association; left for Wellington by ihe Limited last evening. Mr. J. M. Park, chief assessor, Land and Income Tax Department, lias been appointed deputy - Commissioner of Taxes. Mr. H. H. Young takes Mr. Park's place as chief assessor. Mr. C. A. Black, general manager in New Zealand of the Electrolux, Ltd., for three years, left Auckland last night .by the Niagara to take over the managing directorship of the company in Australia. Mr. A. M. Seaman, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, who has been attending the annual conference of the Associated Chambers at Dunedin, has returned to Auckland. Mr. Seaman and Mr. H. T. Merritt, of Auckland, were re-elected to the executive of the association. Mr. G. L. Agar, B.Sc, assistant-tele-graph engineer at Wellington, will leave by the Tainui on November 11 for a'.'l6 months' tour of Britain and the Continent. Hie tour is for the purpose of studying telegraph and telephone engineering practice overseas, and he will be attached to the British Post Office engineering department for -about six J months.
