TE AWAMUTU TRACKS.

IMPASTO AND GAY SEATON. PELAGIA PLEASES. Fast work at Te Awamutu yesterday morning was carried out on the course proper about 15 feet out from the rails. Although no very fast times were recorded, all did, useful work. The plough and inner grass tracks were used for pace work. The son of Hunting Song is infusing more dash into his work of late, and it will not be long before he improves on his Cambridge performance. Marechal, Kurapae and Erination were sent away from the halfmile peg, and at the three furlongs they were joined by Transaction, who, with Marechal, led the others home. The two-year-olds were also given fast work on the course proper and several promising efforts were recorded, the best performance being provided by the Gay Shield—Persis colt, who • has been named Gay Seaton. Trickling Waters had the General Latour—March gelding as a companion over two furlongs, which were covered in 25 1 /4s. Pelagia was hitting out nicely at the end of five furlongs, in company with Te Waimi, in 1.4, the last halfmile taking 525. Te Waipu was stopping at the post. Plough and Inner Grass. Among those doing useful tasks on these tracks were Foreign Money, Sir Musk, Beryl Latour, Chateau, Emancipation and Gaysogne. H. L. Russell has brought the hunter Spalpiko into commission again, but at present he is only doing light tasks.
