MOTHERS' UNION.
The last quarterly meeting of the council of the Auckland Mothers' Union was held at Bishopscourt library on Tuesday afternoon, when between 70 and 80 secretaries and treasurers were present. Mrs. Averill presided. The annual festival was fixed for November 23, when there will be a celebration service at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral Church and a Mothers' Union service at two o'clock, to be addressed by the Archbishop. Immediately after a garden party will be given at Bishopscourt by his Grace and Mrs. Averill, to which all members of the Mothers' Union are invited. The Parish Hall at St. Mary's will be open for the use of members after the morning service. Tea will be provided, but they are expected to bring their own lunches.
The question of a leaflet to be published each month, with news of Mothers' Union work throughout the diocese, was discussed. The number of branches and roll of membership have increased very rapidly, and it is felt such a paper would bring members into closer touch, interesting all in the work of the rest. It was decided to. follow the usual custom of placing a wreath from the Mothers' Union on the Centotaph at the service on Armistice Day. The secretaries of the Milford and Devonport branches. will undertake this work this year.
