COTTON CRISIS.
COMPLETE STOPPAGE PEAR. LONDON, November 1. Apart from the few cotton mills, where the employers are continuing the old wages, the stoppage in the spinning section of the industry is virtually complete. The Ministry of Labour conciliation officer, Mr. F. W. Leggett, has hurried to Manchester, but he will be powerless until the Spinning Amalgamation has taken a ballot among the operatives whether they will continue or cease the strike. The result will be known at the week-end. Failing an early settlement, a further 200,000 operatives will be rendered idle owing to the enforced stoppage of the weaving section of the industry.
