LABOUR DAY SPORTS. FUNNELL SPRINT VICTOR. BIRTWISTLE'S MILE HANDICAP. Despite heavy rain in the morning the Domain was available yesterday afternoon for the annual Labour Day sports, controlled by the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club. As most of the other attractions scheduled for the holiday had been cancelled, the athletic meeting drew a large attendance. One of the outstanding victories was that of B. H. BirtwLstle, the Auckland Grammar School steeplechase champion, in winning the mile event in his firet race in open company. Results :— 100 Yards Secondary Schools' Scratch Race. —W.
