MAY BREAK VOWS.

RELIGIOUS LAW IN SPAIN.

LONDON, October 20.

Government protection of members of religious orders who wish to break their vows is among the clauses of a new Parliamentary nieaeure, states the correspondent of "The Times" at Madrid. The bill, which is designed to "regulate congregations," has been introduced into the Cortes. It reserves the right to veto the appointment of any priest or bishop or ecclesiastical administrator who is deemed dangerous to law and order. The bill forbids religious orders to teach or exercise a trade or engage in agriculture. It 'prohibits the possession of property above that necessary for the purposes of the organisation, the accounts of which must be submitted periodically to the Government, which also takes over all Catholic Church property, but permits it to be used for Catholic purposes.
