THE MEANS TEST.
IS IT A HARDSHIP ? (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, October 23. In reference to the Government's intention to remove the complaint that the means test is imposed before certain of the unemployed are granted relief and penalises thrift, the "Daily Express" states that the authorities probably dc not count as meanj war and other pensions up to £1 a week, small property and workmen's compensation awards to £500. It is stated that some of the unemployed have been forced to sell their houses at a great i° 6s before being granted relief.
