LAWN TENNIS.
UNIVERSITY CLUB.
The official opening of the University T>awn Tennis Clnl> took place on Saturday. The chip courts were opened, but not the grass courts, which will be left for another fortnight. The president, Mr, A. K. Turnpr. welcomed the members and extended best wishes for the coming season, a sentiment which was also voiced by Mr. F. C. Ellis, a vice-president of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, who was representing the latter body. Miss J.- Wakeiin served the first ball, after which 'friendly games were played.
