CONTESTS AT ASHBURTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. The Canterbury provincial brass and pipe bands' contest, which attracted a very large attendance on Saturday, was continued to-day. Results are as follow:— Selections.—B Grade.—Christchurch Municipal, 96 points, 1; Ashburton, 94, 2; Stanmore, 90, 3. C. grade: Rangiora,-94 points, 1 ; Geraldine, 91, 2; Timaru Municipal Junior, 84, 3. Pipers.—Christchurch. scr. S6 points, 1; Ashburton (5), 794. 2; Canterbury (4), 77, 3. Aggregate B : Ashburton Silver, Aggregate C : Kuugtora Citizens' Pipes 1, Christchurch Scottish 2. Quickstep.—B grade : Ashburton Silver, 2813 points, 1; Christchurch Municipal, 2523, 2; Stanmore Silver, 239, 3. These were the only competitors. C grade : Rangiora~ 262 points, 1; Timaru Municipal Junior, 250j. 2; Ellesmcrc. 223, 3. There was one other competitor. Pipers.—Christchurch Scottish, 260£ points, 1 ; Canterbubry Caledonian Society, 2521, 2; Ashburton County, 2451, 3. Three others competed.
