ATHENIAN CLUB.
A large gathering of members and visitors attended the final social entertainment of the Athenian Club, held at the Amateur Operatic Soeiety's Hall, Grafton Road, on S.iturday evening. The setting chosen for the stage and hall was ft, Venetian carnival, Which was exceedingly well done. The programme was opened by a number of dainty pupils of Madame Valeska in a dance, when the gowns were of lavender frilled taffeta fashioned in early period style. The ballet were: Mrs. O'Sullivan, Misses B. Schramm, E. Lee, G. Sloane, J. Smith, and Ausfin. Vocal and humorous items were delivered by Mr. and Mrs. Bailey, "Mardi and Max," Miss Hilda Morse, Miss Rowbottom, and Mr. McSkifnming. The hosts and hostesses for the evening were: Mr. and Mrs. James , O'Sliea, Mr. and Mrs. C. Morse', Mr. and Mrs. H. Clarke. The favours and novelties distributed to the guests were in true carnival style and spirit. During the evening the opportunity was taken to make presentations to the following members for the help they had extended to the club during the season: Mr. and Mrs. V. Trask, Messrs. Fred Williams, T. J. Regan, and Babington. Among those present were: Mesdames Wilfred Wright, Cecil. Munro Emanuel, V. Trask, K. Dennis, B. Jones, Bagliurst, F. Williams, E. Kissen, 11.
