St. J. Birnie, Mr. E. E. Shipton and Dr. Baymond Greene.

Among the others, all of whom although young have had great experience, ate' Messrs. Noel Odell, E. Shebbeare, C. A cheque for £100 has been Bent by the King toward the expenses of the expedition, with a letter expressing His Majesty's good wishes for its success.

The letter says it is with great satisfaction that the King has heard that Mr. Hugh Buttledge has been appointed commander of the expedition, as hid knowledge of mountaineering and intimate acquaintance with the Himalayan people and Tibetans render him eminently fitted for that post.
