BOXING TO-NIGHT.
TWO PROFESSIONAL CONTESTS. To-night's the night for the- Northern' Boxing Association's carnival at. the Town Hall. Thirty rounds, or one hour and a half, of solid fighting are scheduled, making the. greatest professional fight programme ever offered local enthusiasts. The first 15-round contest will be between Petty, Officer Arthur Firth, light heavyweight champion of. the British Navy, and Bill Sullivan, of. Hastings, while the other 15-round.er on the programme will be for the lightweight championship of New Zealand, between Harry Johns, the titleholder. and Archie Hughes. Firth's record shows wins over some of the most prominent heavy men in Great Britain, while Sullivan has an impressive record against the best in Australia, as well as a win over Campbell, the New Zealand champion. These heavy-weights are both hard • sluggers and every round of their contest should be packed with thrills. The fight for the title between Johns and Hughes has been long by followers of the sport, and the added inducement of a 15-round heavy-weight contest should bring' fight fans 'flocking to the Town Hall to-night.
