SCOTT CENTENARY.
SCOTTISH CELEBRATION.
LONDON, September 22. . The Sir Walter Scott centenary celebrations came to a climax in Scotland last night. The whole of the border country wag ablaze with beacons. Prince George attended a memorial service in St. Giles', Edinburgh, and later laid a wreath at the Scott memorial in the presence of a great gathering of Scotsmen —including peers, churchmen, judges, professors, magistrates — who afterwards had luncheon in Parliament Hall. In the evening the Prince attended a pageant performed by 1400 Edinburgh school children at Waverley Market, where sconce from Scott's novels were enacted.
