PRICE OF UNITY.
RIFT OVER OTTAWA.
xVATIUJNAIj UAmiNHiT. Samuelites Demand Revision Of Agreements. APPEAL TO AVOID SPLIT. {United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, September 22. Unless the Ottawa agreements are modified, entailing Britain's direct appeal to the Dominions to agree to the revision, the Samuelites will resign. Such, "The Sun" learns, is the astonishing situation which is the crux of the Cabinet differences threatening a crisis. The "Manchester Guardian" says the Liberal Ministers intend to resign with'out going into opposition. They will continue to support the Government in everything except tariffs and the Ottawa agreements, thereby freeing themselves from responsibility for Ottawa and escaping the dreaded accusation' that they deserted their posts at a time of national emergency like the Labour party. In the absence of a definite declaration before the Cabinet meets the prospect of Liberal secessions is much discussed in the Press. The newest development is strong editorial appeals in the "Daily Telegraph" and "Daily Mail" urging the- Liberals not to split the National Government. The "Daily. Mail" says the resignations of the Liberal Ministers would be taken abroad as a sign of disunity among the parties which gave -the Government its strength, and would tend to weaken Britain's influence in Europe at a. critical moment.
